Matt Molloy
Good morning class, my name is Matt Molloy and I am running for Secretary of State. My team and I have discussed many ways to conduct our foreign policies. We are planning to continue air strikes and provide aid to Syria and Afghanistan, and we have decided to reduce the amount of American troops in the war to protect the lives of soldiers and the safety of the country. We will not let the fight die and victory will be achieved without the unnecessary government spending for more troops to be sent.
1. We believe that we should provide aid to the weak nations like Syria and make sure we do everything we can to eliminate ISIS. We will keep combatting ISIS with air strikes and ensure the safety of the people in Syria. We will provide aid by sending medical supplies, volunteer nurses and we will accept more Syrian refugees. We will have Syria’s back through this whole process and make sure they completely have the necessary resources that gives them the ability to face ISIS and not surrender.
2. The Obama administration have deployed military personnel to assist the Iraqi government in training and to assist the government on missions. The administration has also conducted over 9,500 airstrikes in Iraq and Syria. These airstrikes have also targeted ISIS vehicles and tanks and have taken out 3,450 tanks. Also domestic efforts have been made, such as the FBI arresting about 65 individuals involved with ISIS, more than 30 ISIS leaders were sanctioned, and all bank branches connected to ISIS have been cut off. I agree with of all these methods made by the Obama administration, especially with the airstrikes which have proven themselves to be very effective and my team and I will carry this method on into our transition into office and foreign policies.
3. My team and I agree with most of the methods used by the Obama administration. We strongly agree with the method of airstrikes which is very effective and has not only taken out ISIS soldiers, but their tanks and vehicles. And also we agree with the plan to use our soldiers to assist the Iraqi soldiers but we don't want them directly involved in the physical aspect of the war. We will target their resources, like tanks and vehicles as well as leaders and we will eliminate them with the air strikes.
4. In order to eliminate the growing threat of ISIS, my team and I have decided to continue to use airstrikes against ISIS and keep the fight going and refuse to give up. To further ensure Americans are safe at home we will increase the amount of screenings in airports and in any place of high value, so ISIS can no longer commit any of these tragic terrorist events that have been occurring recently. Also, areas all around the U.S. that are hosting big events and have a big crowd of people should be highly secured with a bunch of security personnel all around the area surrounding it and being aware of suspicious activity to prevent an attack. Also I strongly believe that security checkpoints at airports are very essential in the process of battling ISIS. Even though the checkpoints may be annoying, they are effective and they provide safety for the innocent people trying to live their lives. After 9/11 it is unacceptable to me to let any dangerous person fall through the cracks and board a plane with any harmful weapons with the intention to cause mass destruction.
5. We agree with President Obama on the decision to have troops stationed in Afghanistan to help the Afghan army. President Obama has pledged to reduce the 9,800 troops in Afghanistan to only 5,500 by the end of this year. I believe that we should remove the majority of the troops from the war and let them go home and be safe, but at the same time leave some troops stationed in Afghanistan until they are fully prepared and ready to battle. This can put us in danger though because ISIS might directly target us if they see us getting heavily involved.
6. In regards to the war in Afghanistan my team and I will still keep a decent amount of troops to assist the Afghan army but we will not directly involve our soldiers in the physical war and we will make sure we have troops stationed in areas of high value that ISIS would desire to gain territory and refuse to let them take over. This will prevent ISIS from gaining more powerful weapons as well as gaining more territory and supporters. This will be a big help to the Afghan army and this will stop ISIS from gaining more power which is a very big step in ultimately defeating ISIS.
7. In order to ensure Americans are not only safe at home, but as well as overseas we plan to increase safety procedures greatly. First, to ensure domestic safety I will increase the amount of screening at airports and make the boarding process much more complex in regards to safety requirements. This will prevent criminals and terrorists from having the ability to not only board an airplane, but to be able to sneak weapons through the screenings and prevent the potential attack and destruction from the weapons. Also, safety checkpoints will be take much more seriously and no exceptions will be made to any suspicious activity. And overseas, we will continue to provide aid and resources such as weapons and supplies to make sure the struggling nations are stable enough to face any enemy.
8. I believe that Americans should have trust in me when it comes to me providing protection for the people because I am willing to get the job done no matter what. We will defeat ISIS together as a nation, we are America and there is no one nation that is better than us, and I don't feel like having that statement change. There will be no more exceptions and no more of these tragic terrorist events, nothing will get by our great nation and our great government. If I’m elected, you will no longer have to leave in fear because my team and I will not stop working until ISIS is just another enemy that was quickly eliminated thanks to the great nation. Do the right thing and be smart, you will always feel safe behind me as Secretary of State. The airstrikes will help to destroy ISIS resources and soldiers/leaders and the increased screenings and checkpoints will prevent a bad situation from happening before it even has the potential to cause damage.
9. I plan to make not only all our enemies but as well as our allies to realize how strong and powerful America really is. I believe America isn't really taken as a serious, stable nation anymore and that is not okay. We will restore the image of how powerful we really are and really expose our resources and our means and express the fact that we always get the job done. And I believe that once my team and I prove to you that we are stronger than ISIS and once we defeat them not one enemy will want to battle with us again because we are America, the powerful and the united. I can't promise you when, but eventually we will give you back your well deserved feeling of safety and defeat any entity that stands in the way of that.
